…social media has overtaken porn as the No. 1 activity on the web

…..it took radio 38 years to reach 50 million users; Facebook attracted 100 million users in less than nine months

….the fastest growing segment on Facebook is 55-65 year old females

According to “Social Media Revolution”, a video produced by Socialnomics and broadcast – where else? – on YouTube:

An interesting barrage of (unreferenced) statistics and stirring stuff.

Correction – statistic sources are referenced on the Socialnomics website, but they include several “attempting to relocate”. They do regret including “studies show [Wikipedia] is more accurate than Encyclopedia Brittanica”, but is the use of “studies show” ever a good idea?

Pedantic nitpicking aside, and although at times dramatically pushing the point, it is a very relevant and important point for all businesses and organisations to take on board.

Finally, a word to non-“Generation Y”ers like myself – you may wish to mute the sound…
